7 Amazing Days of June’18 in Singapore

21Shares

This year June, I had been to Singapore for 6N/ 7D (20th June to 27th June) which included 3N/ 2D Cruise (22nd June to 25th June) from Singapore to Malaysia. That was a company offsite. We were around 25 people. It was not just first international trip but the first experience to flight as well and I was very excited, started shopping, savings and other preparations months before the trip.

Days passed and finally, 20th June has come. It was the day when we had to depart from Delhi to Singapore. I, along with my colleagues headed towards IGI Airport, New Delhi by taking the cab at 17:00 crossing all Delhi traffic jams. We reached there at 18:40 (distance from my home to the airport is nearly 20kms).

Our flight SQ 403 DEL-SIN (Singapore airlines) was on time and will depart at 21:55 from Delhi. However, we went earlier as we had to complete the check-in process of 25 people and many of us were traveling for the first time. We approached the counter, collected our boarding pass, dropped our luggage and then sat down. We had snacks (Pizza, Coffee, Momos, Fries) at the airport.

Finally the wait is over, its time to go inside the plane. I was nervous and excited at the same time. Plane started slowly on runway and after 5-10mt it started picking its speed just before taking off and at that time my legs were trembling. Finally the plane took off and now the heartbeats started to get back in normal state.

Air hostesses started to serve the dinner for passengers. I was not that hungry since we ate at the Airport as well but I prefer to eat since it was included in our ticket costing and not too often we travel through planes :D. We had our dinner, kept on talking with our teammates. We knew we have to see the same faces again and again inside the plane so we prefer to sleep. Later I slept and my flight landed at 6:10 but it was 3:50 in India and we were still sleepy as there was a change in our routine. But somehow we managed as we were excited for the trip ahead.

Day 1 : Local City Tour In Singapore

The whole day of 21st June was planned for a city tour. Our travel guide was waiting for us at the airport, she brought a bus as it was a large group of 25 people we kept our luggage inside the bus and left for city tour. We started from an Indian Restaurant where we had Indian breakfast (Dosa,Poori, Sabzi). After breakfast, we started our sightseeing fromMarina Bay Sands followed by Singapore flyer, Chinese temple, a dargah and other buildings passing on the way. There are just so so so so many attractions and things to do. I am sure you could spend a couple of weeks and still leave Singapore with things on your list for next time.

After returning from the city tour, we checked in at the hotel (Ramadan Palace Park Royal On Kitchener Road), took a bath, rested for a while and then gone for night safari with a guide. Night Safari included Animal Show + Fire Show + Tram Ride.

Came back to the hotel but not everyone was tired and wanted to rest so few decided to go casino at marina bay sands and few said they need to rest. I along with two of my friends decided to go to Mustafa Centre at 1:00 through the cab. It is very safe there for a girl to travel late at night but the only thing is metro services closes at 23:00 then you have to call a cab which is a little expensive. After shopping, we came back to the hotel room at 2:45  as we have to go to sleep to look fresh the next day also :).

Day 2 – Day 4 : Cruise from Singapore to Malaysia

We woke up at 8:00 the next morning to get ready as we have to leave for the cruise. We were instructed to gather near the bus by 11:30. We had our breakfast, got ready for the day and went for the cruise. We reached the port to embark at our cruise “Royale Caribbean Voyager of the seas” considered to be the largest cruise in the world. Soon our check-in process started, they collected our passport and provided us with the boarding pass to enter into the cruise. It took almost 3 hours to complete the whole process as it was a long queue and there were 3500 people boarding the cruise.

I was very excited to enter the cruise since the only time I saw the cruise was in “Titanic” movie :D.

Brief About The Cruise :
1. Constructed by Kværner Masa-Yards at its Turku New Shipyard in Finland.
2. Launched in November 27, 1998.
3. Cost to build it was US$650 million.
4. It has 15 decks, height is 200ft and has a capacity of handling 3500 people (Passengers + Crew).
5. It has multiple Bars & Lounges, swimming pools (for both adults & children), Dining Restaurant, Sport Courts, Beautiful Garden, Shopping Malls and ofcourse our beautifully designed rooms :).

Cruise started moving at 16:30. We got the room keys and we went to our respective rooms, soon we were asked to gather for a mock drill where we were taught how to protect ourselves in case of an emergency. Post that I started exploring the cruise.

It was a 15-deck cruise, our rooms were on the 8th deck. The dining area was on the 11th deck. There was fixed routine timing for having breakfast lunch & dinner after which you will not get anything to eat so everyone had to be punctual. The first day on Cruise was fun, went to the swimming pool then danced in the evening. Multiple activities and programmes were also going on different decks.

On June 23, 2018, we reached Port Klang (Malaysia). We were given a halt of the full day in Malaysia so we decided to go for a city tour. We hired cabs and left the port for the city tour at 11:00. We reached Batu caves at 14:00 (which was nearly 50kms from Port).

Brief of Batu Caves :
1. It is a south Indian (Tamil) temple.
2. This temple is dedicated to Lord Muruga.
3. It is the tallest statue in Malaysia which is at a
height of 140ft.
4. Statue is at the entrance gate of Batu Caves.
5. Construction was started in year 2006 and it took 2 years to complete it.
6. It has 272 steps to reach the cave.

As soon we managed to go upstairs to see the cave, we came to know that the temple is under renovation. Bad Luck :(. Attaching few pictures of

We came down and decided to go “Petronas twin tower” but it was not our day, it started raining heavily and our driver told us that one has to book tickets a day before visiting that place but somehow sitting inside the car I managed to click a picture.

Because of rainfall we failed to go to other places in the city.

Then we decided to go back to the ship as it was raining heavily and our driver warned us that we could be stuck somewhere due to bad weather conditions and there are chances for us to miss the ship. We reached at 17:45 and our ship left at 18:00. We had our dinner and rested for a while. There was some Bollywood song guessing competition started at 22:00 we all participated and had fun there.

We reached back to the Singapore port on 25th June morning at 8:00. Our travel guide was waiting to pick us. She took us to Sentosa island where we went to Sea Aquarium, had a cable car ride.
